The Blue Knight Project

It's been months since my first post. Yet again my project has evolved and transformed. It's become evident that there is a lack of understanding and support not just in Cape Town, where we live, but in my country. South Africa is one of the most diverse countries in the world but still lacking in structure. The lack of support and understanding in South Aftica of Autism has challenged me. I want to find parents of ASD children and find out how they do it. I find the we, as the parents, of these children are the Knights in their lives and fittingly the colour of #autism awareness is blue. It seems fitting the this concept that developed over years of dreaming and thinking should come to this amalgamation of idea. It has become abundantly clear to me that i am surely not the only person that would require the need for talking, brainstorming and sometime venting. Funds for support are never there. The concept of Blue Knight was conceived in 1998 when I was 18 years old, fresh faced, full of dreams and high hopes for the future. The original concept for this was a passion project filled with giving, helping, loving, fun, smiles and community.  20 years later I have had to accept that my Passion Project, Dream and Goal is just not one that is not achievable in my life time, not for me. I have decided instead to write about what the project would have been, could have been and hopefully inspire someone to take steps I am not able to. I'll always hold thumbs and pray that one day I am able to hear of my Concept being the success I know it will be.
